Milk proteins

Functional milk proteins
for demanding formulations

Milk protein portfolio

We offer a wide selection of milk proteins for dietary supplements, functional food, sports nutrition and specialised nutritional formulations. The portfolio includes caseinates, casein hydrolysates and whey protein hydrolysates, available in a range of variants differing in degree of hydrolysis, protein content and technological properties.

All products come from the Tatua Co-operative Dairy Company in New Zealand. This makes it possible to match the raw material not only to the desired nutritional profile, but also to the taste, viscosity, stability and technological requirements of the finished formulation.

Milk protein fractions in our range

Caseinates – high protein concentration and functionality

Caseinates are high-protein raw materials widely used in nutritional formulations. Our range includes T100 sodium caseinate and T200 calcium caseinate, which contain more than 95% protein with low fat and lactose content. They are a good fit for formulations that require a high protein concentration and minimal other components.

Caseinates also offer favourable technological properties. Depending on the variant, they can provide emulsifying and foaming properties as well as heat stability. Their mild, milky flavour makes them easy to use in many kinds of products without the need for masking.

Casein phosphopeptides – a specialised peptide fraction

HCP102 is a casein hydrolysate containing 22% casein phosphopeptides (CPP), derived from casein and naturally present in milk, intended for applications that require this specific peptide fraction. It is a solution for manufacturers developing specialised nutritional formulations.

Milk protein hydrolysates – protein in the form of shorter peptides

Milk protein hydrolysates are produced by enzymatic hydrolysis, which breaks proteins down into shorter peptides. The degree of hydrolysis can vary, giving raw materials with different properties.

Our range includes both casein hydrolysates (HCP) and whey protein hydrolysates (HWP) – from mildly hydrolysed variants to highly hydrolysed raw materials. Depending on the product, variants are available with features such as low viscosity, heat stability, a mild or neutral flavour and reduced lactose content.

Hydrolysed whey protein is made from whey protein concentrate. Depending on the variant, these raw materials can combine high protein content, a mild or neutral taste, heat stability and a defined peptide profile.

Quality and safety – from milk to finished raw material

For milk proteins, quality, safety and consistent parameters are essential. Our raw materials come from a manufacturer with a comprehensive quality control system covering the entire process – from milk collection, through processing and testing, to the release of the finished batch.

Production follows FSSC 22000 and HACCP standards, and the manufacturer also has an ISO 17025 laboratory and Halal and Kosher certification. The quality system also covers raw material traceability and batch-to-batch consistency control, which is especially important in large-scale production.

Grass-Fed – milk from New Zealand pastures

Tatua raw materials also stand out because the milk comes from pasture-raised cows. The manufacturer is certified to the New Zealand Dairy Grass-Fed Administrative Standard. Under this standard, grass makes up at least 90% of the cows’ diet and the animals spend at least 340 days a year on pasture.
